Expanish Terms and Conditions
Expanish agrees to provide Spanish immersion courses with experienced and trained teachers for students, and provide a number of related services such as activities and volunteer programs. Expanish is not liable for any damage resulting from or compensation related to incorrect or withheld information received from the student at the point of booking.
2. Terms & Conditions
These terms & conditions apply from the moment the student has submitted and completed the Expanish booking form.
3. Documents & Insurance
The student is fully responsible for ensuring that they have adequate travel documents, visas, travel insurance and medical insurance. Any non-compliance and any resulting damages are the sole responsibility of the student.
4. Travel Health Insurance
Travel health insurance is mandatory. Expanish requires that all students have health insurance for the duration of the program. If a student already has travel insurance, Expanish will ask for a copy of the policy. If not, students can book travel insurance with Expanish.
Expanish will not be held liable for loss, damage or injury to persons or property.
6. Changes to Enrollment
Expanish reserves the right to charge an administration fee of US$40 for the course, volunteer placement, or internship placement, and US$100 for the accommodation each time the program is changed or postponed after Expanish has confirmed the initial enrollment. Any changes should be made in writing two weeks before the requested change or postponement. This also includes requests for changes while the student is at the school. Any postponement within two weeks of the start date will be considered a cancellation of original program (refer to item 9).
7. Changes During Program
Changes between different services (courses, accommodation, volunteer placements and other services), such as substituting one service for another, are not permitted and will be considered a cancellation (refer to item 9).
8. Changes to Accommodation
Changes between different types of accomodation (Homestay to Shared or vice versa) are not permitted and will be considered a cancellation. In cases where the student requests to switch between the same accommodation (Homestay to Homestay, or Shared to Shared) even though the accommodation meets the set quality requirements, Expanish reserves the right to charge an administration fee of US$100 and perform the change according to availability.
9. Refunds and Cancellations
For cancellations received 14 days or more in advance of the program start date, Expanish will refund all program costs except the deposit and non-refundable charges (registration fee and bank/card fees). For volunteer and internship programs, a cancellation fee of 50% of the placement fee is charged. For course cancellations received less than 14 days in advance of the program start date, no refund will be issued. After the start date there is no refund for any program, including cancellations and/or partial cancellations.
10. Accommodation Cancellation after Arrival
If a student has reserved 7 weeks or less of accommodation, there is no refund after the program has started. If a student has reserved 8 weeks or more of accommodation, they may notify Expanish in writing 4 weeks prior to the date of termination to receive a partial refund, otherwise a 4-week cancellation fee will apply.
11. Last-Minute Enrollments
Any enrollments for Expanish services received less than 14 days in advance of the start date will be subject to availability.
If the booking is submitted less than four weeks before the program start date, students must pay the full program fee. If the booking is submitted more than four weeks before the program start date, a deposit is required to confirm the program. The second payment with the remaining balance is due four weeks before the program start date.
Payments may be made by bank transfer or credit/debit card. All transaction fees are the responsibility of the student. Students already in Buenos AIres may also make payment in cash in US dollars or in Argentine pesos.
Expanish will close for Argentine public holidays. Individual lessons during holidays will be rescheduled. For group classes, Expanish will offer 2 extra hours of class to compensate during weeks with one Holiday. For weeks with two holidays, Intensive Spanish 20 students will receive 6 extra hours of classes and Intensive Spanish 30 students will receive 2 hours of One-to-One lessons as compensation. Class time will not be made up fully so students should account for holidays when planning their trip. Please be aware that the Argentine government is prone to adding new holidays with little or no notice during the course of each year. Expanish will endeavor to communicate changes as soon as they have been formally announced.
14. Program Changes
Expanish may change course structure and timetables at its discretion without notification. The student is entitled to a refund of tuition fees for those courses that Expanish is not able to provide.
15. Class Information
Classes are held Monday to Friday, starting in the morning. However, Expanish reserves the right to introduce a double banking time table where students alternate between morning and afternoon lessons, on a weekly or daily basis. Expanish reserves the right to use classrooms in alternative premises of a similar standard.
16. Accommodation Information
All students housed in a Student Residence or Private Apartment should adhere to all rules and policies provided by the provider, which may include deposits, security precautions, use of facilities, guest policies, etc. If any household items are broken or damaged, the student will be held liable for paying the host the value of the damaged item(s). If a student loses a set of house keys, which may result in the building locks being changed, the student will be charged accordingly.
17. Level of Spanish
If a student does not have the minimum level of Spanish required to follow a specific course, as determined by the Expanish placement test, Expanish reserves the right to move the student to a course that is appropriate for their level.
18. Reduction of Lessons
Expanish reserves the right to reduce the number of lessons in a class due to insufficient number of students. If there are less than 3 students in a group class, the student will receive the following: For Intensive Spanish 20 they will receive 8 hours of One to One lessons and for Intensive Spanish 30 they will receive 10 hours of One to One lessons.
Flight details must be given 7 days prior to arrival in order for Expanish to provide an airport transfer. No refunds will be granted on transfers if flight details are not sent to Expanish at least 7 days prior to arrival. Details include arrival airport, arrival time, flight number, airline and point of origin. Airport transfer fees include a maximum waiting time of two hours from the flight’s arrival. In the event of delays exceeding two hours, students will be charged an additional fee upon arrival at the school.
20. Force Majeure
Expanish will not be liable for any failure to comply with obligations (and therefore shall not be required to pay compensation) if the failure is accompanied by any cause beyond Expanish’s reasonable control; nor shall Expanish be responsible for any costs incurred by or on behalf of the student as a result of any such case. Such causes shall include but are not limited to fire, flood, war, riot, embargo, organized labor stoppage, unusually adverse weather conditions, acts of civil or military authorities, acts of terrorism, acts of god, pandemics etc.
Neither Expanish nor its accommodation hosts provide supervision for any adult student (18+ years old) who books a program. Students who are less than 18 years old are required to have consent from their parents to study and book a Homestay City and airport transfers. Those travelling alone need to posses any necessary documentation to allow their stay in Argentina.
22. Code of Conduct & Expulsion
Students are expected to attend a minimum of 80% of classes in order to continue each week. They should inform the school in case of absence. Students should act in a respectful manner towards fellow students, teachers, staff and third party providers such as accommodation hosts and/or activity guides. The company reserves the right to expel students from the program/accommodation at its sole discretion if it sees students in breach of its basic code of conduct (supplied in in the welcome pack on the first day of classes). No refund will be given. Students must pay the full cost of any damage to property and are expected to obey the laws and adapt to the customs of their host country and host family (if applicable).
23. Photography & Filming
Expanish may take promotional photographs and video footage of students. If students do not wish to participate, Expanish will respect their wishes if Expanish has been notified.
