Learn Spanish and Enjoy Wine in Buenos Aires
Our Wine Tasting Activity Add-On provides students with an evening of wine tasting where they will discover the famous and unique varieties of Argentine wine. This activity is perfect for wine aficionados and also those with no previous tasting experience.
What Is an Activity Add-On?
An Activity Add-On is a way to compliment Spanish learning through a cultural activity specific to Argentina. Add-ons are organized on a weekly basis so students can do just one week or spend their entire program participating. Any student may take part as they are held outside class time, making activity add-ons the perfect way to experience Buenos Aires.
What Is Included in the Wine Tasting Activity Add-On?
Each week the Wine Tasting Activity Add-On will provide one evening wine tasting at a local wine bar. A professional sommelier will conduct the event where students can sip local varieties paired with traditional dishes like cheeses and meats. The tasting will cover the history of wine in Argentina and the different regions for growing grapes including Mendoza, Salta and La Rioja to name a few. The wines change from week to week but common types are the famous Malbec, a robust red wine, and the Torrontes, a mild white wine. Wine tastings are ideally conducted in Spanish, but can also be done in English depending on the student's current Spanish level.
Optional Additional Wine and Mendoza Trip
Students will also get the chance to buy additional wine they taste for their stay in Buenos Aires or they can even have it shipped home to impress friends and family. Our school also organizes trips to Mendoza, where the majority of Argentine wine is produced. Students will be able to tour wineries and participate in additional wine tasting directly from the source. These extra activities/trips are optional and are booked after arrival here at the school.
