Welcome to Expanish's Minor Policy
We are delighted that you’ve chosen Expanish for the minor’s Spanish learning journey. To ensure the safety and well-being of all minors enrolled in our programs, we have specific policies and procedures in place. Please carefully review the following guidelines, which outline our expectations and the steps we take to provide a secure, enjoyable experience for our students.
Legal and Documentation Requirements
Parents or legal guardians are responsible for signing a Minor Consent Form, which provides the legal permission or approval for a minor to participate in a specific program at Expanish. The form includes the following components:
Accommodation: Required if the minor is traveling unaccompanied or staying in accommodations outside of Expanish.
Transfer & Travel Information: Required if the minor is traveling unaccompanied or staying in accommodations outside of Expanish.
Medical Information & Release of Liability: Grants permission for Expanish to administer medical treatment or make medical decisions for the minor in emergency situations, in case the parent or guardian cannot be reached immediately.
Policy and Rules: required to acknowledge that parents or guardians have read, understood, and agreed to the terms and conditions set forth by Expanish for the minor’s participation in the program.
Health Insurance: Proof of valid health insurance coverage for the duration of the program is mandatory.
Parents and guardians need to ensure the minor has a valid ID, and, if required, passport and visa.
Accommodation and Arrival
Accommodation Options
Minors traveling alone must stay in Expanish-approved homestays, where we prioritize their safety and comfort. If the minor will be living with family or guardians, you must confirm the arrangement and provide details of a reliable airport transfer service.
Airport Transfers
Expanish requires all minors to have secure and pre-arranged transfers to and from the airport, either through our service or your own arrangements.
First Day Procedures
Accompanied Travel to School
Minors traveling alone: Homestay hosts are responsible for ensuring the student knows how to travel to and from school on the first day and each day thereafter.
Minors with guardians: Parents or guardians are responsible for making sure the student is familiar with their school commute from the first day onwards.
Orientation Meeting:
A private meeting with a staff member, typically the Student Services Coordinator, will take place to ensure the minor feels supported and knows where to seek help if needed.
Academic and Attendance Policies
Class Attendance: Attendance is mandatory. If the minor misses class without valid justification, we will notify you immediately. Repeated absences may result in dismissal from the program.
Academic Support: Our team is here to help students succeed academically. If the minor requires additional support or accommodations due to TDAH, dyslexia, neurodevelopmental disorder, please inform us before their arrival.

For hospital visits, a staff member will accompany the minor if parents/guardians are not onsite.
In urgent situations requiring surgery, a decision will only be made if a signed medical release form is on file and parents/guardians are unreachable.
Mental Health and Behavior Concerns
If we observe signs of mental health issues or behavioral challenges, we will contact you promptly to discuss appropriate next steps.
Police Reports
If the minor needs to file a police report, a staff member will assist and accompany them if parents/guardians are unavailable.
Drugs, Alcohol, Tobacco and e-Cigarettes
If the minor consumes any type of drugs or alcohol during the length of the program, the parents/guardians will be informed, and it will result in automatic expulsion from the program
