Alongside your placement, you’ll enroll in an Internship Seminar focused on professional development, guided reflection, and connecting your workplace experience to your academic learning.
Professional Experience in Barcelona
Internships are a central component of this semester program. You’ll spend approximately 15 hours per week working with a local organization in Barcelona, gaining practical, real-world experience in an international setting while developing industry-specific and transferable skills.

The city becomes part of your learning experience as you engage with local professionals, adapt to Spanish workplace culture, and build meaningful relationships. Whether your goal is to earn academic credit, strengthen your résumé, or gain international experience, this program offers a focused and flexible way to grow both personally and professionally during the summer.
Professional Internship Placement
Interns work 20 to 30 hours per week in placements aligned with their academic background and career interests. With opportunities available across multiple industries, you’ll gain hands-on experience in an international workplace environment.
nternships are offered in both English and Spanish, providing flexibility based on your language proficiency and professional goals.
Academic Integration and Credit Options
Your placement is complemented by the Global Internship Seminar, a four-part online course designed to support intercultural communication skills, professional goal-setting, and structured reflection on your workplace experience.
Students may earn academic credit based on completed internship hours:
3 credits for 120 internship hours
6 credits for 246 internship hours
Optional Spanish Language Courses
Participants who wish to strengthen their Spanish language skills can enroll in evening Spanish classes at our Study Center. While these courses do not provide additional academic credit, they offer valuable language practice and cultural enrichment during your time in Barcelona.
