Spanish course in Sámara
Learn Spanish with native teachers in small groups of max 8 students at IONA Café. Afternoon classes leave your mornings free for beach time, hikes to hidden beaches, and exploring Sámara.
20 group lessons per week, with each class lasting 50 minutes. All lessons taught entirely in Spanish.
Spanish lessons from 2:30 to 6:30 PM Monday to Friday. Mornings free for activities, afternoons for learning, evenings for relaxing.

Spanish Course Options
Choose your duration from 1 to 6 weeks. All courses include 20 afternoon Spanish lessons per week, morning activities, and access to our student community. Three sessions: May–June, July–August, October–November.
How You’ll Progress Through the Levels
Wondering how long it takes to move up in Spanish? This chart gives you a rough idea of how many weeks it usually takes to go from one level to the next, from total beginner (A1) all the way to fluent (C2).
Our intensive Spanish course follow the CEFR levels (A1 to C2), and with consistent study, you’ll see steady progress week by week. Everyone learns at their own pace, but this gives you a good roadmap of what to expect.
Life in Sámara
Weekly activities included with your Spanish course. Welcome tours on Mondays, hikes to Playa Izquierda and Punta Indio, dancing classes with local instructors, and end-of-week celebrations with karaoke and typical drinks.
Beyond the Classroom
Spanish classes meet in the afternoons, leaving your mornings free for beach time, surfing, and exploring Sámara. With classes from 2:30 to 6:30 PM, you'll have time to practice Spanish in real settings before heading to class.
Classes meet at a cozy local café in central Sámara where you can return to practice with locals and classmates outside class hours.

Hikes to secret beaches, dancing classes, yoga sessions, and welcome tours. Activities run mornings before Spanish classes to take advantage of Costa Rica's best weather.
