Study & Internship Semester in Barcelona
This semester abroad with internship combines academic coursework at the Expanish Study Center with a professional internship placement in a field related to your interests. You’ll also participate in an Internship Seminar designed to build career skills, reflect on workplace experiences, and connect classroom learning to your professional growth.
Your internship will be an important part of your semester abroad. With 15 hours a week working at a Barcelona company, you will learn valuable real-world skills.

How You Will Earn Credits Abroad
Between courses and your internship, you will earn a full semesters-worth of credits. Our Internship seminar will help your learn how to organize and prioritize work and school while abroad!
Credits & Course Structure
During your semester in Barcelona, you will combine academic coursework with a professional internship, completing 4–5 courses total and earning 12–15 U.S. semester credits.
Credits Breakdown:
3 U.S. credits from a required Spanish language course at Expanish
3–6 U.S. credits from your internship placement and related coursework
3–6 U.S. credits from content courses at the Expanish Study Center
Language of Instruction:
English for internship coursework and content courses
Spanish language course focused on practical communication and professional use
Weekly Schedule:
Classes run Monday through Thursday
Internship hours vary depending on your host organization and placement schedule

Students may enroll in 2–4 English-taught courses at the Expanish Center.
