The Health & Safety of our students is our priority.

Committed to Your Well-Being

At Expanish, your well-being is our top priority. We are committed to ensuring that every student feels safe, supported, and cared for throughout their journey with us. Overview of Expanish’s Commitment to Student Health & Safety

In-person program welcome session

Participants attend an in-depth orientation that covers key aspects of their new environment, including local culture, transportation systems, personal safety, health services, and what to do in case of emergencies.

Round-the-clock emergency assistance

Students and faculty have access to an emergency phone line, managed by Expanish operations staff, that they can call after office hours in case of an emergency. We will work with your institution to ensure any additional university-specific guidelines are followed and met.

Robust on-site support services

Our multilingual team is readily available to assist with questions or concerns. They are equipped to provide support in times of need and can connect students with appropriate medical or mental health resources.

Insurance information and assistance

All Study Abroad programs include insurance in the cost of the program. Students are required to be insured during their time with Expanish.

Comprehensive Student Support

Cultural adjustment and wellbeing programs

We offer a variety of resources to help students transition smoothly into their new environment, including cultural adaptation workshops, mindfulness sessions, stress management strategies, and wellness activities like yoga or group fitness. We also organize social events to foster connection and community among participants.

Pre-departure and on-site safety orientation

Students receive thorough safety guidance both before they travel and once they arrive. These sessions include preparation tips, local laws and customs, emergency planning, and practical advice for staying safe and informed while abroad

Faculty and staff preparedness training

All team members undergo specialized training in areas such as first aid, mental health response, and emergency protocols. Regular professional development ensures our staff remain equipped to manage student health and safety needs effectively throughout the program.

Ongoing health and safety education

Health and safety education doesn’t stop at arrival. Students receive essential information before departure, including travel health advice and vaccine recommendations, and continue to receive updates while abroad. We also help students navigate local healthcare systems and maintain healthy habits throughout their stay.
