Privacy Policy

Our privacy policy was last updated on June 24, 2024.

Expanish is committed to protecting the personal data of all our existing and potential customers. This privacy policy outlines how we collect, handle and process user data and what rights you have.

What is personal data?

Personal data refers to any bits of information that could be used to identify you. Examples include:

  • Name

  • Personal details (e.g. date of birth, nationality, gender)

  • ID numbers (e.g. passport, national ID card, driver’s license)

  • Contact information (e.g. email/telephone number/postal address)

  • Profile data (e.g. username or profile picture)

  • Technical information (e.g. IP address, browser data, location data, cookies)

  • Financial information (e.g. credit or debit card details, bank account details)

  • Information about medical conditions.

How do we collect personal data?

We collect information in a few different ways, as outlined below:

Directly from you: When you enroll in an Expanish course you provide us with your name, personal details, ID numbers, contact information etc. You also provide some of this information whenever you contact us offline or online, or if you sign up to any of our materials (e.g. email promotions, newsletters).

Through cookies: We use cookies (small text files) to enable certain website functions, store user preferences, provide analytics and deliver third-party content. These are designed to give users a better experience on our website and gather information for marketing purposes. Cookies by themselves do not identify a user but contain technical information about the user's device and may store personal information when saving preferences (e.g. with online forms or enquiries). You can manage how your cookies are saved and used - please see our cookie policy for full information.

Though third parties: Our business affiliates or commercial partners (e.g. agencies, insurance companies) may share relevant personal data with us when you make a booking or enquiry in your country of residence. We may also have access to personal information through your interaction with Expanish channels via third-party websites, including social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and independent review sites (e.g. TripAdvisor, Google, Trustpilot.)

Photos: We take photos of our students in our Expanish schools and during social activities -  it’s how we show other potential students what it is like to study Spanish in Spain or Argentina.

How do we use personal data?

We will use your personal data to complete enrollment in our Spanish language courses and provide any additional products or services that you have requested (e.g. insurance coverage, accommodation). In some cases, your data will be shared with third parties that offer services on our behalf (e.g. insurance companies, agencies).

In addition, we may use personal data for:

  • Statistical or analytical purposes, to identify problems or user trends and improve the quality of our services.

  • Marketing purposes. For example, we may publish some of the photos we take of students on our website, social media channels or other promotional materials such as brochures etc.

How do we protect your personal data?

We take administrative, organizational and technical measures to ensure that any personal data we collect and use is accurate, up-to-date, processed correctly and safeguarded against unlawful or fraudulent use.

Our website and other online platforms/channels may include links to external sites, including those embedded in third-party advertisements. We are not responsible for the privacy policy or use of personal data by third party sites or other onlines services. In addition, the inclusion of a link in Expanish products does not imply endorsement of the external site/service.

Your choices about personal data

Depending on where you are resident, you may have a legal right to request information about the personal data we keep on you and how it is being used. If you would like to do this, please contact us.

If you explicitly do not want to appear in photos taken at our language schools or during activities organized through Expanish, please inform us as soon as possible. At any time if a member of staff is taking a photo, you can let them know if you don’t want to be in it.

Under 13s

Children under 13 can only give consent with permission from their parent. If you are under 13 you should review this policy together with a parent or guardian to make sure you both understand it. We are not responsible for checking each user’s age: if we become aware that we have collected personal data about a child under 13 without the consent from their parent or guardian, we will delete the information as soon as possible.

If you have any doubts or questions about our privacy policy, please contact us.
