Barcelona International Airport (BCN): Informally called “El Prat”, this is the nearest airport to Barcelona city center. The trip to the city center takes about 20 minutes in taxi (about €35) and about 45 minutes by metro (cost of a single journey is €4.50). You can also take the Aerobus express bus service (€5.90) which takes about 25 minutes or catch the RENFE train (€4.10) which takes about 30 minutes.

Alternatively, there are two airports in the Barcelona Area: Girona Airport to the north and Reus Airport to the south. Both are about 100km away (or about 1 hour in taxi), and there is no direct benefit to arriving at these airports.

Once you are in the Barcelona city center you can take the following metro and bus lines to arrive at Expanish:

Metro: Expanish is just a few blocks from the following metro stations:
– Provença (S1, S2, S5, S6, S7, L6 & L7)
– Diagonal (L3 & L5)
– Passeig de Gracia (R2, L2, L3 & L4)
– Verdaguer (L5 & L4)

Buses: Expanish is a just few blocks away from the following bus stops: H8 / H10 / V15 / V17 / 6 / 22 / 24 / 33 / 34 / 39 / 45.
Taxi: A taxi is the quickest way to get into the city, and are easily available at the airport. Taxis cannot be hailed, but rather passengers must wait in line at marked taxi areas at both Terminal A (Terminal 1) and Terminal 2 (Terminal B). It takes 20 minutes without traffic to get into Barcelona and will cost about €35, although the taxi ride will be more expensive at night and during rush hour. Follow the signs for taxis in the airport and you will be directed to a line of taxis waiting outside.

Metro: You can take the L9 metro line (orange line) from either Terminal A1 (Terminal 1) or Terminal A2 (Terminal 2) to the city center. This will take roughly 45 minutes. Follow the signs in the airport for the Metro L9 Subway. Once you get into Barcelona you will need to change to the L1, L5, or L3 lines. The cost of a single metro journey is €4.50. Students also have the option of buying a monthly unlimited pass for €52. The metro runs Sunday to Thursday from 5am to 12am (midnight), 5am to 2am on Friday night and 24hs on Saturday and Sunday.

Aerobús: An economical way to get to the city center is to take the Aerobús. The Aerobús leaves the airport every 5 minutes and takes about 35 minutes to get to Plaza Catalunya (with multiple stops along the way). The Aerobús goes to each Terminal A1 (Terminal 1) and Terminal A2 (Terminal 2). The rate is €5.90 each way, and you can pay by cash or card (at a kiosk) before getting on the bus. Follow the signs for the Aerobús, you will go down an escalator outside and see the Aerobúsdirectly ahead.

RENFE Train: There is a train that leaves from A2 (terminal 2) and stops at the major train stations in Barcelona, including Barcelona Sants (Sants estació), Passeig de Gracia, and El Clot. You can use a regular metro pass to take the train. It takes about 30 minutes and you will likely need to change to a metro line once you arrive at the train station. The train runs every 30 minutes and the last train leaves at 11:30pm.
